About
Karl Jones is a versatile creative professional whose work bridges the worlds of mainstream publishing and community-driven art. As a former editor at Penguin Random House, Karl honed a keen eye for storytelling, a skill he now channels into his own performance and memoir projects, as well as freelance editing work. He has edited and authored over one hundred books and speaks regularly on craft and creative practice. His experience in licensed book publishing with properties as diverse as Cartoon Network and RuPaul's Drag Race inform his work as curator of the Tulsa-based Vintage Barbie Museum.
Deeply rooted in the cultural landscape of middle America, he serves as a vital voice for regional identity and history. He is a co-founder of Goff Fest, a celebration of the legacy of architect Bruce Goff, and a key contributor to the Center for Queer Prairie Studies. Through these initiatives, Karl explores the intersection of queer heritage and the Great Plains. Whether through the written word or collaborative public art, his work remains dedicated to unearthing overlooked narratives and fostering local connection.
