About
Kristy Acevedo loves to write stories that make people think and give people hope. When she was a child, her “big sister” from the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program fostered her love of books by bringing her to the public library every Wednesday for seven years.
She earned her master’s degree in English and Secondary Education and has been teaching high school English for over two decades. Her dystopian YA sci-fi debut series, THE WARNING and THE FALLOUT (2023 Sourcebooks Fire), won the PEN New England Susan P. Bloom Children’s Book Discovery Award, was a finalist for the Philip K. Dick award for distinguished science fiction, and was touted as one of Barnes & Noble Teen’s Top 13 Anticipated YA sci-fi books (under the original title Consider).
