About
Penelope Childers retired after a thirty-four-year career with the federal government. She worked for Samaritan Women, an organization that helped women coming out of jail and prison change their lives. In 2007, she was recruited as a fund developer by Chapel of Grace. The single goal was to raise money to build a chapel and serenity gardens for Valley State Prison for Women (VSPW), the world’s largest women’s prison. Penelope sat on the boards of three non-profit organizations; 9 to 5 for Christ, Fresno Women’s Network, and Chapel of Grace (when she was no longer paid).
Penelope is a ghost/collaborative writer whose credits include SALT magazine, Inspire Christian Writers 2014 Anthology, Focus on the Family’s Club House Magazine, Guideposts and Chicken Soup for the Soul—Inspiration for Nurses, The Spirit of American, and Best Mom’s Ever. She wrote newsletters for Samaritan Women, Chapel of Grace, and currently helps write newsletters for Valley Missions jail ministry. Her book A Cry of the Heart-Human Trafficking, One Survivors Story is now available on Amazon.
