After more than 40 years and over 100 credits as a feature film sound editor, sound designer, supervising sound editor and re-recording mixer, I have been teaching film sound courses part-time at Loyola Marymount University. In that capacity, I found a need for a teaching / technical book on the operation of a complex sound mixing console, the Avid S6. I began with the intention of quickly outlining basic instructions for students and faculty, but soon realized that this was a much bigger task than a short paper. Now it is becoming a book.
