About

Neil Izenberg is a writer based in Philadelphia – focusing, at least for the moment on stories of how bites of food and gulps of drink, consumed at just the right time, can change the trajectory of life in unexpected ways.

Until he recently chucked it all, Dr. Izenberg was a nationally-known pediatrician and media producer. As founding CEO of the Nemours Children’s Health System’s Center for Health Media, Izenberg launched KidsHealth.org (the most-visited site about children’s health and parenting). He has produced hundreds of film/video and animated programs and created a huge library of simple, illustrated care instructions used by most of the nation’s children’s hospitals. His work has included numerous academic studies, a range of books for parents, series of emergency guides for clinicians, a popular encyclopedia about human diseases for teens, and an award-winning board game for kids about playfully meeting life’s most scary challenges.

Izenberg has served as an advisor and a program developer for Sesame Workshop, Cheerios, the AMA, the CDC, Procter & Gamble, Sprout, the NBA/WNBA, Seventeen Magazine, and the Michael Phelps Foundation, among others.

Along the way, Izenberg and his team have received including 3 Emmy nominations, 4 Webby Awards, the American Academy of Pediatrics Education Award, and dozens of top juried awards for film, print, and innovation.

Now, Izenberg spends much of his time writing creatively – mostly for fun and often at night. Finally, he can sleep later, finish his dreams, and have a leisurely breakfast. And, of course, snack whenever he wants.
