Leah Heather Moore
Leah Moore, a high school teacher, first premiered her writing on the parenting blog, www.lovingyoubig.com. In its infancy stage, there have been 20,000 views, reaching an international audience. Moore’s writing has been featured on the “Erma Bombeck Humor Writers” website, in addition to popular parenting websites such as Scary Mommy, Kveller, The Mighty, and Mamapedia. She is in discussion with Parenting magazine to print some of her work and will be featured in “Today’s Kids in Motion” magazine. She has been an invited guest on several podcasts, including Special Parents Confidential and Grey Genetics. The Cri Du Chat Documentary Leah created is currently at 99k views, growing 6k in the last two months.
Leah has taught English and Theatre in New York for more than a decade. She was the 2009 recipient of the coveted, “Teacher of the Year” award, presented to ten New York City Teachers annually. She has taught writing to more than 1,500 students and engages reticent 14-year-old freshman on a daily basis. In addition, Moore has taught graduate courses at Columbia’s Teachers College and has lead talk back presentations after broadway shows to audiences of over 2,000 people.
As a parent of a special needs child, Moore has met with numerous experts in the field and is an active member of both 5P-, an organization for individuals with Cri Du Chat, and Moms of Multiples, supporting parents of twins in her area.
