I write hybrid texts that slide between non-fiction, poetry, fiction, libretto. I am also an award-winning translator from the Persian (AKA Farsi). My first two books of translation are Belonging: New Poetry by Iranians Around the World (North Atlantic Books, 2008), and Vis&I (l'Aleph, 2017). I have written several libretti for choral and operatic works that have been commissioned by and performed at venues such as, Carnegie Hall, Cal Performances (Fire Angels, 2011), the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (Fire Angels, 2014), the Kennedy Center (The Investment, 2015), the Brooklyn Academy of Music (Epiphany, 2015), Stanford Live (The Plentiful Peach, 2015). My upcoming projects include an opera, Abraham in Flames (2019), and accompanying paratext.
