Laurah Morningstar Winder took her undergraduate degree from Smith College, in Northampton, MA. She has a master's in Journalism from Columbia University. While most of her work is non-fiction, lifestyle and profile pieces, she also writes children's books and short story fictional pieces. If she is not writing, she is thinking about writing.

Tasiawelanu is an elementary aged boy, who moves from Santa Fe, New Mexico to New York City. He has warm chestnut skin, long black hair, and a very long name that's hard to pronounce. He feels out of place, and can't make friends. His grandmother visits from Santa Fe, and everything changes.
