About

e.E. Charlton-Trujillo is an award-winning author, filmmaker, and youth literacy activist described as a “force of nature” by Kirkus Reviews. Trujillo is a 2024 Michael L. Printz Award winner for their surrealist fiction in The Collectors: Stories. Their Fat Angie series was an ALA Stonewall Award winner and a Lambda Literary Finalist among other accolades. Their Lupe Lopez picture book series garnered a Bank Street Best Books of The Year and International Latino Award among others. Trujillo's short fiction also appeared in the Read Across America, critically celebrated Living Beyond Borders: Growing Up Mexican in America. They have served as Visiting Faculty at Writing for Children and Young Adults MFA program at Vermont College of Fine Arts and the University of Texas-El Paso's NEH Borderlands Narratives About Identity and Binationalism. They have also served as a judge for the prestigious Edgar Awards. A former Madrina for the Las Musas collective, Trujillo is also co-founder of the youth literacy nonprofit Never Counted Out.
