About
Cynthia Merritt is a Doctor of Audiology and author of Death by Decibels, a Dr. Elise Harte Mystery. She graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, received her Master’s degree in Audiology from Sacramento State University, and her Doctorate degree in Audiology from the Arizona School of Health Sciences.
Her work experiences include various medical settings, owning her own business, serving as President of the California Academy of Audiology, and on the Ethics board of the American Academy of Audiology, all of which have provided the background for many a mystery.
Cynthia’s family moved from Long Island, New York to San Francisco, California when she was five years old. Golden Gate Park was in her backyard and she loved the city’s activities. She eventually met her husband and moved to the Sacramento area to raise their family. They have lived in Lacey, Washington and now reside in the beautiful midwest, in central Illinois. Cynthia especially loves the ability to reconnect with relatives living in the midwest, New York and Vermont areas. She and her husband’s latest travels took them to London and France.
Cynthia is currently working on her second book, Decibels of Deception, with help always from her two beautiful cats. When not writing, she is learning from her associations with writer’s groups such as Sisters in Crime and the Author’s Guild, as well as community activities associated with the local community college. Besides her family and traveling, she loves coffee shops, book stores, and music.
