Makale Moore is a novelist, poet, and community activist hailing from the Southside of Chicago, Illinois by way of West Englewood. Currently attending Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana obtaining a B.A. in English. A visionary of originality and authenticity, incorporating his love for music and exceptionalism of Black inner-city life into his work. As a creative, priding himself on uplifting other people, especially young people and fellow creatives through the possibility of combining all arts to liberate the world. At the age of 19 he finished the draft to his first full-length novel. With the end goal of inspiring, motivating, and cultivating the next generation to use their dreams to change the world by sharing his personal experiences through the art of storytelling. With research experience from Johns Hopkins University & Vanderbilt University with projects surrounding diversifying the literary canon with more books highlighting the actuality of inner-city youth; projects entitled Blackout: Rejecting Trauma and Embodying Love in Black Young Adult Literature and Diversifying the Literary Canon through Poetry & Prose Writing. As a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, he plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Creative Writing after he graduates from undergrad.

Inside A Generation
“Inside A Generation” is a young adult novel, surrounding the lives of five teens in juvenescence on the cusp of young adulthood and the city that has been with them through it all. Highlighting the actuality of young adult life for the inner-city youth of Chicago, on the Southside instead of the stereotypical life of gang banging and gun violence. Finding exceptionalism in moments of normality, in between the surrounding problems as young adults about to graduate high school. From college decisions to parental relationships using their book smarts and street smarts to navigate through the forthcoming of change that is upon them within the next few months.
Emphasis on the methods that help them through the madness of young adult life such as music and poetry. Music guiding readers and the characters through this story, as music plays a crucial part for youth in today’s society, this story shows that significance by mentioning songs throughout its entirety as a soundtrack to help fully immerse readers in this story. Alongside poems that also indulge in the normality of Black teenage life, and irreplaceable culture of the Southside of Chicago. A one-of-kind telling of the dreamers of Chicago.
