David L Shrier is a globally recognized expert on the impacts of technology on society, and has published nine books in the past nine years on the subject.

He is primarily affiliated with two series of nonfiction titles: his Basic series (Basic Blockchain, Basic Metaverse, and Basic AI), published by Little Brown UK (and, for two titles, Harvard Business Publishing), seeks to make innovation understandable to a wider audience. He also edits and is a substantial contributor towards a series of more scholarly works (as of 2024, three published and one under contract) with MIT Press under the MIT Connection Science & Engineering imprint.

He is a Professor of Practice with Imperial College London (the #1 research university in the UK), a Visiting Scholar with MIT, and Managing Director of venture studio Visionary Future. His degree from Brown University included studying under legendary playwright Paula Vogel, where he learned the importance of storytelling.
