About
I'm a freelance journalist, author of five nonfiction books, and co-editor of one nonfiction book. I've also contributed to several anthologies and to numerous large news outlets (e.g., NYT, WaPo) as well as smaller outlets that sometimes provide a better fit (e.g., the sadly-defunct Lost Magazine). Highlights of my published work can be found at www.alanhuffman.com. I also maintain a Substack, "What Happened," which chronicles stories that slip through the cracks of conventional news. My nonfiction books include Ten Point; Mississippi in Africa; Sultana; We're With Nobody (coauthored with Michael Rejebian); and Here I Am.
