Elizabeth Wagner was born across the street from Lake Michigan. They studied at St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland, and at the Center for Writers in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where they received the Joan Johnson and Garth Avant Memorial awards. Wagner has worked as a tutor, and editor, and a medical technical writer, among other things, and has taught at Hattiesburg, in Brno in the Czech Republic, and, currently, at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Work has appeared in Quarterly West, New World Writing, Mississippi Review, and Action, Spectacle. Her story, "The Violinist," received special mention in the 2019 Pushcart Anthology.
