About

Andy's debut novel, Lily's Payback, portrayed school teachers instead of James Bond in a spicy thriller. It won two awards: The London International and The Midwest Book Festivals and has many positive reviews on Kirkus and Amazon.com. A Lesson to Die For is the sequel to Lily's Payback. Andy writes what he knows!

He grew up in Brooklyn, New York City where the importance of education, artistic expression, and a personal commitment to being passionate about what you do were instilled in him by his parents.

His college years were spent as a clarinet performance music major at the Aaron Copland Conservatory, Queens College.

In 1967, he began a 13-year career as a fifth-grade teacher in New York's Lower East Side. Many of Andy's students lived with impoverished families and amidst violent gangs.

Whether in the inner-city or the suburb of Norwood, NJ, Andy tirelessly confronted the dilemma of how to respond to incidents of prejudice and meld the various perspectives, cultures, and the beliefs of students into an environment conducive to human development and learning. After thirteen years in the classroom, he sought to change the system.

Andy served four years as a building principal and 25 years as Chief School Administrator of the Norwood Public School District in Bergen County, New Jersey. With Andy at the helm, student achievement and test scores improved, bullying was addressed, the curriculum was expanded, teachers were empowered with more decision-making input, special needs programs were introduced - particularly for autistic children and their families.

After 42 years in public education, Andy's imagination is unleashed! He focuses on writing and presenting a program, Ignite Your Dreams, to inspire others to creative expression. Check out his websites at: www.drandyrose.com and www.andyroseauthor.com.
