About

John Lauricella was born in Brooklyn and taken away as a child to suburban New Jersey, where he attended the public schools. He graduated from Colgate University A.B., Phi Beta Kappa, and magna cum laude; later, he earned an M.F.A. in creative writing and a Ph.D. in English Language & Literature at Cornell University. He continues to live in Ithaca, NY, briefly taught essay writing at Ithaca College, and has served various academic and administrative agendas at Cornell Law School and in Cornell’s division of Alumni Affairs & Development. His fiction includes the novels HUNTING OLD SAMMIE, THE PORNOGRAPHER'S APPRENTICE, and 2094, as well as shorter fiction, some of which has appeared in Stone Canoe, Piltdown Review, and Arts & Letters. His most recent publications are UNFORGETTABLE, an autobiographical novel with an unspeakable evil haunting is dark heart and an extraordinary girl who lives; and THE CHINA PLOT, a true-life fiction about an American novelist caught up in a U.S.-Sino propaganda gambit who becomes a person of interest to a beautiful Chinese spy. A revised edition of his first book, HOME GAMES: ESSAYS ON BASEBALL FICTION, originally published in hardcover by McFarland & Co., Inc., in 1999, was released in 2023. His work-in-progress, a lengthy autobiographical novel, promises to be his final say about his egomaniacal self. No one knows when or if it will become available to the reading public.
