About

Hina Shamsi is an author by chance, not by choice. With a double master’s degree in marketing & finance, she aspired to work for an advertising firm someday. But life had a unique plan (as it does so often). While bringing up three boys, she taught at (SZABIST) a local business school.

The pandemic gave her time to rethink her career goals. Quarantined at home, she comforted herself by writing, and once the stories started to spill out, there was no looking back.

Her debut novella “The Quintessential Fat Girl- Beautiful is not a Size” was a social satire that started as raw musing. The book resonated so well with the readers as most of us struggle with our bodily image. However, the writing process was cathartic enough for her to want to do it all over again.

As an avid learner, she enrolled herself at CPCAB and completed her certification in counseling. Her new learning opened a window into her own emotions and that of the people surrounding her. "LOVE" being a powerful emotion inspired her to write "LOVE KNOT," a cross-cultural coming-of-age love story that received critical acclaim and was reviewed by top newspapers in the country.

Hina's upcoming book, "Whispers of the Wounded," marks her third venture into storytelling and is set to be published by Neem Tree Press UK in summer 2025.

Hina believes that there is room for all kinds of storytelling and hopes to write more stories in the coming years. She enjoys developing simple but complex characters that are closer to reality yet remain a fragment of her imagination.

Her interests include reading and trying out new cuisines as she believes taste buds reveal the true essence of a culture. Her passion lies in caring for nature, planting trees, and always bringing her cloth bag shopping. She enjoys meeting people from different walks of life and studying their behaviour. She dares to be somewhat opinionated about social norms and finds solace in her faith.

Hina expresses her creativity through painting and other mediums, finding joy in the process. Right now, her passion is traveling the world and exploring diverse cultures and archaeological sites. She is currently writing a children's book about environmental awareness and habits adapted at a young age.
