About
Terry Friedman is a writer and a rock hound. In her previous career, she was an English teacher, a suitable position for a word lover who doesn't mind chiseling away at the minds of youth. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, she was raised by a closet feminist who worked at the Pentagon and a father with a higher security clearance than her mother. She survived writing boot camp at Wilkes University and earned a Masters in Creative Writing and Masters in Fine Arts. In addition to writing, she makes jewelry.
Twenty-four of Friedman's fiction and non-fiction articles have been published, and she co-edited Delaware Valley Mystery Writers' short story anthology, Death Knell V. For decades, she attended Delaware Valley Sisters in Crime (SinC) Saturday meetings, and she is still a member from afar. When she moved south, she founded the Myrtle Beach SinC chapter and Pennwriters South, an extension of Pennwriters, a professional writers organization. She is currently a Pennwriters Board member and is also a member of National Sisters in Crime, the Southeastern Writers Association, and South Carolina Writers Association.
Today, she writes suspense novels and paranormal thrillers from coastal South Carolina with her yellow Lab, Fiona at her feet and her sweet tuxedo cat, Tiggy (Antigone) destroying her chair, begging for attention. A recurring nightmare and the birth of her first daughter prompted Irish suspense novel, The Banshee's Wail. The catalyst for paranormal thriller, Bone Pendant Girls (January 30, 2024) was a close encounter with a stalker. A sequel to Bone Pendant Girls, titled, Eleven Seconds is her work in progress. The Shadows with their beady yellow eyes will return.
Friedman has traveled the world from Fiji to Delphi and brings to her writing a solid respect for diversity as well as for things that go bump in the night.
