About
A fourth-generation native Texan, I recently retired as an oil and gas landman. In forty years in the oil industry, I've met many interesting people, each with a unique history. My BA and MA degrees are in history, and the academic training in research and documentation served me well during my career. I think linearly and seek motives for human behavior. During my career, my questioning nature unearthed interesting familial and commercial backstories, many of which I describe in "Landman: 40 Years of Deal-Making in the Oil Patch," currently undergoing revision.

Landman: 40 Years of Deal-Making in the Oil Patch
I am a seventy-year-old gay man. The book recalls how my orientation conflicted with the ultra-conservative oil and gas business, which taught me many lessons: humorous, ironic, and amusing. Several proved difficult and embarrassing, but they all taught me a lesson about people - and myself. Of the thousands of people I've dealt with, fewer than a half-dozen were genuine creeps, revealing many good attributes of those I did business with.
