About
A. E. Ryan is from the DC Metropolitan area. The award-winning poet, essayist, and screenwriter has written articles on inspiring public figures including actor-producer Tatanka Means and author A’Lelia Bundles for the NOVA Fortnightly newspaper.
After years in the film industry, Ms. Ryan ventured behind the camera as a writer, director, and producer. She has been honored to serve as a screenplay and film judge for the DC Shorts Film Festival and IFP in New York.
As a writer, her short and feature-length screenplays have won prizes in international contests such as the Virginia Governor’s Screenwriting Competition and the Canadian International Film Festival.
Her work has appeared in various publications by Vine Leaves Press, Sad Girls Literary Blog, and Poets Choice. She is a submissions reader for The Maine Review and is currently finishing her first nonfiction book.
