About

Therese Marie Duncan's debut work LION TAMER MEMOIR How It All Turned Out, Love that Healed Trauma was self-published in November 2022 under her own imprint 22nd Ave North Books. She's been writing this memoir for the past twelve years. Four other books will follow in the LION TAMER MEMOIR series: Into the Cauldron; A Perilous Task; The Elusive Sense of Self; and How It All Began. She wrote LION TAMER MEMOIR to tell the story of how she healed her relationship with her father after abuse. Her background as an addictions counselor as well as her own healing showed her the power of breaking the code of silence and the healing energy of shared experiences. Motivated by the knowledge of how pervasive and destructive the less violent forms of sexual abuse are and the lack of understanding, talking and healing, she wrote LION TAMER MEMOIR to give others hope. She chose the first person present tense close style so readers could quickly engage and gain access to the tools she learned in the ups and downs of her own relationships, all based on neurotic attachments, since she had lost her true connection with her father. Men and women say it's a handbook for living that made them laugh out loud and cry. "Powerful. That's the only word for it," said one reader. "Buckle up for the twist at the end and get the tissue out," said another.
Ms. Duncan lives in Oak View, California, with her husband and their cat Delilah.
