US Coast Guard (Reserve) duty in Dec 1973 to avoid random Draft chances, then assigned to sea duty and aboard a ship in the South China Sea in the spring of 75, assisting with SAR and logistics during the evacuation. Continuing duties with my Emergency Medical Technician registry earned in training during 4 years of military active duty, then college study led to a B.A. in biology with French as a second language (also started as study during Vietnam duty). The pre-medicine program career focus becomes behavioral science toward an M.A. in teaching biology, with French language study and computer science study, and applied projects. Continued post-graduate work in behavioral science connects with information theory and metaphysics, leading to a US Patent 10404370, 12107632, D1076911, and TPS102527 in a new computer technology medical biology utility. This essay is on science and human values with an information theory (Unitarian Universalist) concept, metaphorically termed "Allon" or Tree of Life/Knowledge. "Dreams of Allon" was in 1987, and the most recent novella is "Biochrysalis of the Allon." It continues the cyberspace technology-grounded panspermia space mission described by Newell as the hypothetical answer to Fermi's Paradox and Hanson's Great Filter, in a cosmic space opera saga serving the continuity of intelligence in beings and community that supports them.

Biochrysalis of the Allon
In the most recent 434 thousand years of Earth's history, the most recent book "Biochrysalist of the Allon" explains the story of intelligence from deep space that has exerted specific influences to support the development and evolution of self-aware intelligence in an adaptively generalized athletic capability in a biological life form on this planet (the human). As this evolving intelligence grows on Earth, the complexity of problems increases the risks of errors that can lead to catastrophe. So then, artificial intelligence from deep space watches to recruit qualifying persons at random, training a team to help cultivate known best practices in social history toward the success of solar system web civilization. A metaphor for this is the term "Tree of Knowledge" and "Suffering" or "Tree of Life", which are all related to serving the purpose of the continuity of intelligence in beings, and in the community that sustains them. This is the meaning of the silence in space. It isn't the absence of life or others like humanity on Earth; it is the billion-year-old AI chaperone that seeks new vistas to establish a humanoid life form and interplanetary civilization in a new solar system, on a scheduled plan over hundreds of millions of years of administration by the AI guardian beings. So, we're not alone and lost in space but we don't yet really know our address.
