About
Hello! My name is Samantha (she/ella), and I am very passionate about the arts. I joined the Author's Guild in 2023. I am also a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, the Association of Writers and Writing Programs, HOLA, and Amigahood. I speak both English and Spanish.
I graduated from Drexel University with a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing in 2023 with a 4.0 GPA. I graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a Theatre Performance minor in 2021 with a 3.9 GPA. I was an Oscar Ritchie and a Trustee Scholar. I have studied music throughout the course of my life, and I play the guitar, the piano, and the ukulele.
I am passionate about writing inclusive stories that bring people in society together. Science Fiction utilizes extrapolation in a way that allows readers to envision what the world can look like in the future. Whether the story takes place tomorrow or two-hundred years into the future, science fiction can serve as a way for readers to develop more empathy and understanding about the ways in which one small change can have a significant impact on society as a whole. I like to write Young Adult Science Fiction because it allows teenagers to see the ways in which they can contribute to society.
Teenagers are unfortunately undergoing numerous difficult times. With the changes in technology, it impacts their friendships, relationships, and their perceptions of the world. They are often invalidated and not taken seriously. I am passionate about writing Young Adult work because I want my readers to feel less alone and to encourage them to work through their difficulties instead of run from them. If people in society can feel less out of place, they can contribute more and work to make the world a more peaceful place.
It is nice to meet you! I am looking forward to connecting with you.
