Chicago-area journalist Ann Meyer has worked for over a dozen media companies and publishers in six states. She recently spent a year covering Menominee, Michigan and Marinette, Wisconsin for a local newspaper.
Previously, she covered K-12 education and public higher education for the Savannah Morning News. Her data stories on student performance and teacher pay brought the paper new notice. She covered the aftermath of Hurricane Michael for a sister paper, the Panama City, Fla., News Herald.
She has covered business for over a dozen business publications, including the Chicago Tribune, where she wrote the MindingYourBusiness column for eight years, covering topics of interest to small business owners and employees. She also covered workplace issues and wrote the On the Job column for the Tribune. As a media strategist, her original concepts have inspired SmallBizChicago, BlueSkyInnovation, RetailLeader, SharkTank and other local and national media efforts.
She earned a BSJ from Northwestern University and holds a master's degree with distinction from North Park University in Chicago, where she achieved international honors in business.
She has taught writing, presentation and critical thinking skills in a Managerial Communications course involving an integrated curriculum at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
Ann Meyer is available to speak on overcoming challenges when covering education and local government, spotting conflicts of interest, and informing the public and local leaders of First Amendment issues. She has expertise in business, nonprofits, management and education. She is a first-place national award winner in journalism.
