About
Stella Santamaría is a writer born in Los Angeles and raised in Miami. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Saint Mary's College of California and is a recipient of the School of Liberal Arts Dean's Award. Her poetry has been recently published in Odes to Our Undoing: Writers Reflecting on Crisis, O, Miami, The Islandia Journal, The Brooklyn Review, Mayday Magazine, The Acentos Review, The Rumpus, Nine Mile Magazine, Courtship of Winds, and Juked, among others.
Santamaría performed spoken word in the Lab in San Francisco and the Nuyorican Poets' Café in New York City. She was featured in the HBO Films and CNN documentary Latino in America.
Stella has received support from Under the Volcano and The Community of Writers. Santamaria’s California Silence, was awarded the Ottoline Book Prize and will be published by FENCE Books in 2026.
