About
I am a native Californian who has spent the past 30 years teaching, editing, translating and writing around East Asia. Currently, I live by Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, where I teach English and pursue journalism and editing on the side. I am also a volunteer with the US embassy in KL. My teaching experience is highly varied, including online teacher training for the State Department and conducting English academic writing workshops for graduate students at the University of Malaya. My journalism includes 40 articles on Korea, including some less well-known places there. Anyone needing editing help, academic or journalistic, is welcome to contact me; I can also translate French into English, again academic or journalistic.

This is my co-translation with Jicheng Sun of the main poetry of the Western-influenced Shanghai writing Shao Xunmei (1906-1968). It was favorably reviewed by the 20th-century Chinese literature scholar Bonnie S. McDougall in the journal China Review International.
