Kathleen Schmidt is known for creating and executing holistic communication strategies and marketing campaigns for high-profile figures in media, politics, and sports. With over 20 years of experience in publicity and corporate communications, she brought an in-depth understanding of public relations, marketing, and targeted, crafted messaging to every project. She has built strong connections with media outlets around the globe and utilizes these connections to ensure successful campaigns.
Kathleen has served as Publicity Director at Skyhorse Publishing and as a Literary Agent for Empire Literary. She drove business revenue by applying proactive client representation and contract procurement approaches. Kathleen also managed marketing campaigns and corporate communications for The Perseus Books Group from 2014-2016. Her visionary leadership generated international interest in managed titles and earned her clients top spots on The New York Times bestseller lists. She also steered internal and external messaging for large-scale business mergers, corporate initiatives, and global marketing efforts.
Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Rutgers University and currently serves as a Women’s Media Group member. A skillful public speaker, she has been invited to serve as a guest lecturer at the Bard and Vassar Publishing Program and the NYU Center for Publishing. She also volunteers for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Kathleen is pursuing an MBA at Southern New Hampshire University and will work on a case study about book publishing with Harvard Business School in Fall 2022.
