About
Melissa Hunt (formerly Dorval) had her debut novel, When You Lose Control, published by Spinning Monkey Press in December of 2023. It is available on Amazon and reached number 159 on their City Life Fiction best-seller list.
Additionally, her poems, short stories, and articles have been published in The Offering, The Lowell Connector, The Shirley Volunteer, The Creative Zine, the inaugural issue of The Sixpence Society Literary Journal, The Quabbin Quills Anthology- Our Wild Winds, the NDAC winter writing collection- The Long Dark Winter, The Creative Connections Art is Poetry and Poetry is Art Exhibit, Writers Unite 4/25, and Patchwork.
Hunt is one of three founding members of The New Dawn Writers Group in Ashburnham, Massachusetts.
In 2009, Hunt graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Massachusetts - Lowell, where best-selling author Andre Dubus III served as her mentor.
When she's not writing, Hunt enjoys reading, sewing/needle felting, and seeing live music with her amazing husband. She is a grateful stepmother to two lovely women, and fanatically loves cats and otters.
