Lisa Hofmann-Kuroda is a Japanese to English literary translator based in New York City.

Born in Tokyo, raised in Texas, she holds degrees from Wesleyan University and UC Berkeley, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies at Harvard University. She is an active member of the ALTA BIPOC Translators Caucus and is currently translating writing by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Minako Oba, Toshiko Tamura, Yuko Tsushima, Yoko Tawada, Shun Medoruma and Kirino Natsuo. Her work is forthcoming from New Directions, Knopf, Strangers Press and Farrar, Straus and Giroux (FSG) in 2023-2024.
