Kelly Zhang is a Chinese Canadian children's writer and an emerging literary translator between English and Chinese.

She writes heartfelt Picture Books and Middle-grade Fiction infused with elements of Chinese mythology, folklore and classical poetry. Two of her English-language picture books are forthcoming with US publisher Quill Tree/HarperCollins in 2024/2025.

As a translator, Kelly is drawn to fresh, compelling works of contemporary literature originating from mainland China and the global Chinese diaspora. She is particularly interested in translating children’s fiction and narrative nonfiction, including but not limited to picture books, chapter books, middle-grade novels, essays, poetry and short story collections. Her first Chinese to English book-length translation project is forthcoming with a US publisher (details TBA). She is also a commissioned translator for the global newspaper publication New York Times for Kids (China).

Kelly is an active member/participant of the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA), the PEN America Translation Committee, the Emerging Literary Translators' Network in America (ELTNA), and the Author's Guild.
