Novel in progress: The Romantics
On a college campus in 1970—the Age of Aquarius—Mamie falls out with her best friend when a classmate outs Max's homosexuality. and she concludes he's been lying to her. At a distance, each wrestles with their own feelings about pride, privacy—and each other. Set in a world when feminism was new, homosexuals were closeted and their female friends were “fag-hags,” each of them, outsiders with their own issues, needs the other to get by.

SELECTED PUBLICATIONS
During the 1990s through the early 2000s, when I was a practicing visual artist, my work made use of materials culturally considered medical. My purposes, however, challenged traditional medical understanding of the body’s interior. I published and spoke about my work to professional groups drawn from medicine and arts in the new field of medical humanities.
