About

Barbara Kimmel is an award-winning children’s book author and playwright who creates playful, interactive stories that entertain, engage, and inspire young readers. Her debut board book, Hanukkah Hippity-Hop (Kar-Ben Publishing), was named a "Best Jewish Holiday Children's Book" by the Association of Jewish Libraries and selected as one of only three Hanukkah titles featured on their 2024 Holiday Highlights list.

Her next book, Purim Possibilities (PJ Publishing), featuring Colorforms stickers, will be released in February 2026. Barbara's stories have also appeared in children’s magazines including Highlights and High Five. Her Sukkot story, "Backyard Sleepover," is featured in the October 2025 issue of Highlights for Children.

She earned her B.A. from Brown University, where she made history as the first female mascot, "The Brown Bear." She and her husband live in Atlanta, Georgia, and are proud parents of three grown children.
