About
Barbara Kimmel is a children’s book author and playwright who creates playful board books and picture books designed to entertain, engage, and educate the youngest readers. Her debut book, Hanukkah Hippity-Hop, illustrated by Ana Zurita and published by Kar-Ben Publishing, was named a "Best Jewish Holiday Children's Book" for Fall 2024 by the Association of Jewish Libraries and featured in their Holiday Highlights. Barbara’s upcoming book, Purim Possibilities (PJ Publishing, Spring 2026), is a novelty book featuring Colorforms reusable stickers for children to design mix-and-match costumes.
Barbara also writes short stories for children’s magazines, including Highlights and High Five. A graduate of Brown University, she lives in Atlanta with her husband and is the mother of three grown children. Learn more at www.barbarakimmelwrites.com.
