Donna L. Owens is a native Texan and graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Her first career was teaching elementary school. She loved teaching young students to read and fall in love with books. She began dreaming of being a published author while sharing her love of books with her students. Her creative fire is stoked by a steady stream of coffee, music, dogs and books. Donna lives in Houston with her husband, two daughters and two dogs. Houston has a diverse offering that includes many natural areas with lush forest, greenspace, bayous, and wildlife as well as downtown skyscrapers. Living in this setting inspired her first picture book manuscript (unpublished). When the sun sets and her house is dark, her imagination whispers ideas for stories. She is working on several manuscripts and looks forward to the day she is published.
