About
Andy Becker is an award-winning writer, frequent public speaker, gardener, and lifetime learner living in Gig Harbor with his wife and their two dogs, Nova and Splash. Nova is a chronic counter-surfer, while Splash is an escape artist who never strays far. They each suffer a manic hysteria whenever they spy a rabbit in the yard.
THE PARALEGAL SPEAKS is Becker's second novel, following THE KISSING RABBI, which won a First Place Mark Twain Award for humor and satire. Becker's work lives at the intersection of wit and exposure, with stories that entertain, unsettle, and challenge the narratives we accept about how the world works.
Beyond satire, his writing turns to the elemental. In four additional books, Becker explores the deeper currents of gardening, environmentalism, family, and spiritual ideas from Torah, Talmud, and the Chasidic Masters.
THE SPIRITUAL GARDENER: Insights From the Jewish Tradition To Help Your Garden Grow, draws on spiritual themes to inspire gardening and well-being. THE SPIRITUAL GARDENER is the first book in his Spiritual Garden Series. It won the New York City Big Book Award in the Home and Garden category.
THE SPIRITUAL FOREST: Timeless Jewish Wisdom for a Healthier Planet and a Richer Spiritual Life is the second book in the Spiritual Garden Series. THE SPIRITUAL FOREST promotes planting trees and a love of the environment. THE SPIRITUAL FOREST won three finalist awards, in the category of Spirituality from the Next Generation Book Awards, in two categories, Nature, and Mind, Body, Spirit, from the 17th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards, and in the category of Spirituality/Inspiration from Bestbookfest.
"GRANDY, LET'S PLAY!" Reflections on the Joy, Blessings, and Wonder of Grandparenting is the third book in the Spiritual Garden Series. This illustrated gift book celebrates the profound blessings of grandparenting and the bonds of family as we age. "GRANDY, LET'S PLAY!" was honored with a B.R.A.G. Medallion Award, Bookfest Award, and a First Place CIBA Mind & Spirit Blue Ribbon in the category of Enlightenment Non-fiction.
