After ten years as a university press and freelance editor, I founded the Scholarly Publishing Program at Arizona State University. I wrote several books, including Handbook for Academic Authors, now in its sixth edition from Cambridge University Press. After retiring in 2006, I began writing about historic houses, with three books published by the University of Massachusetts Press (House Stories; At Home: Historic Houses of Eastern Massachusetts; At Home: Historic Houses of Central and Western Massachusetts). I have several new projects under way.
