Lear’s had enough of Janna. Now that he’s safely guided the violence-prone commissar to the village of Talab, all he wants is to return to his quiet monastery and get his life back to normal. As normal as possible for a magical murder-bot hiding the fact he isn’t human so he can fulfill his deepest desire: becoming a full monk of the Holy Path of Peace.
But when Lear and Janna are kidnapped by the local villagers and forced to remain as “guests”, Lear finds himself at the center of a dangerous conspiracy where nothing in the village is what it seems and a shocking crime lies hidden behind the smiling faces of their hosts.
Caught between his vows of peace and his duty to protect the innocent, Lear must come to terms with his own capacity for violence if he ever wants to see his beloved monastery again.
