About

John Michalik graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School intent on a career as a trial lawyer, but soon found himself "diverted" into what would be a 37-year career leading and managing law-related businesses, academic units, and professional membership organizations. That included 15 years at the Washington State Bar Association, where he served as Executive Director and CEO; a stint at the University of Washington School of Law, where he was Assistant Dean; and another 15 years as Executive Director of the international Association of Legal Administrators. He is the author of over 200 articles, annotations, books, and essays on legal and management topics, and has spoken on legal and association management in a half dozen countries. In retirement, he turned to history with the publication of his book “The Harriman Alaska Expedition of 1899.” His debut novel, “Another Way Over: A Novel of Immigration to America,” was published in 2021. He and his wife Diane live in Scottsdale, Arizona.
