Rachel is an eighth-generation Utahan. She works as a writer, editor, photographer, and teacher living between Manhattan, Salt Lake City, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is an MFA candidate in nonfiction at Columbia University, where she also teaches Contemporary Essays. Rachel specializes in poetry, historical fiction, and creative nonfiction with a focus in memoir and essay writing. Her favorite subjects include travel, place, family, mental health, unconventional spirituality, and climate crisis. She serves as the Editor in Chief of Exponent II, a Mormon feminist quarterly.
