About
Aino Aura Järvinen is a Tulsa-born author of dark, gritty tales. After escaping the cult in which she was raised, and which nearly ended her life, Aino began writing to process trauma. She creates genre-bending novels that weave myth and fantasy into the real world. Her stories feature characters who overcome traumatic events and conquer their own limiting beliefs as well as physical monsters.
She won a santoku for the best knife skills in her culinary class, has been a vineyard operative, theatre stage manager, film extra, and worked for an indie soap company.
She shares a birthday with author Billy Martin (A.K.A. Poppy Z. Brite).
Aino lives in Oklahoma with her partner and fur goblin.
Persona is her first novel.
Featured Work
Persona
A resurrected woman. A forgotten friend. An unknown enemy.
After her brief death and inexplicable recovery, an amnesiac woman must piece together a new identity while seeking clues to her former self. Taking the name Anodyne, she struggles to create a new life in the punk rock scene of 1980s America while plagued by the impulse to search for something she can’t remember.
Anodyne is befriended and helped by Nikki, the leader of the local melodic rock band Vita Nova. In a disorienting world where any stranger could be her killer, she questions her own identity, sanity, and strength. Monstrous enemies, both human and otherwise, threaten to end her new life, but the key to her true identity lies in Vita Nova’s music and her own locked mind.
