About
GENE RUYLE -- Author, Actor, Playwright/Composer, Psychologist, Philosopher, Poet ... and Priest
Born and raised in Nebraska on the Great Plains where the west begins, he enlisted in the Marine Corps right out of high school at the tail end of the Korean War, before then entering college at the University of Florida and going on to seminary in Alexandria, Virginia. He served as a parish priest in the Episcopal diocese of Florida for six years.
Granted permission to work secularly while getting his doctorate, he used his major areas of interest (philosophy, psychology, theater, and religion) to fashion a fresh overall approach to human experience. Credentialed in four fields as a professional, he is a member of The Dramatists Guild, The Authors Guild, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Producers, and Actors Equity.
To his originating homesite here at the Guild, along with his handful of blogs at WordPress, a final site is being added. Now under construction at Yahoo, it is designed to officially open as his work finally appears in e-book form. This will bring together into one unifying event the same singular book upon which all three sites are based.
And the scope and substance of the new site is expressed in its title, Experiencing The Human Realm -- which will be the ongoing exploration into how human experience is uniquely enacted and embodied in the life of the individual.
Though Gene has lived and worked most of his years in the Atlanta area, he sees himself as a citizen of the world.
