Deborah Shlian, MD, MBA practiced medicine in California where she also taught at UCLA. She has published nonfiction articles and books as well as medical mystery/thrillers. Her first two novels, Double Illusion and Wednesday's Child were paperback originals and were optioned by Hollywood producers for film. Since moving to Florida, she has had five new novels published. Dead Air, the first in a series starring radio talk show host Sammy Greene, won the 2010 Royal Palm Literary Award for best thriller Devil Wind, the second in the series also is won First place Royal Palm Literary Award, First Place, Hollywood Book Festival (Audiobook version), Second place in Mensa's Sharp Writ Award and Finalist in the Indie Next Awards. Deep Waters is the third in the series and was a Finalist for the Royal Palm Literary Award. Shlian's medical thriller, Silent Survivor, won First Place, 2017 Royal Palm Literary Award. In 2020, Shlian co-wrote a children's book titled Desi for President handout a young rescue pup running for president on a kindness platform. All Shlian's books are available in print, eBooks and Audiobook format.
Rabbit in the Moon is an international thriller and has won the Gold Medal for Genre Fiction from the Florida Book Award, the Mystery Book of the Year Silver Medal from ForeWord Magazine, an Indie Excellence Award, a National Best Books Award Finalist from USA Book News and First place in the Royal Palm Literary Award from the Florida Writers Association.
Lessons Learned: Stories from Women Physician Leaders, a nonfiction book profiling 33 women physicians who have attained signifiant leadership roles within healthcare was published by the American Association for Physician Leadership in 2022.
Lessons Learned: Stories from Women Leaders in STEM, a nonfiction book profiling 29 exceptional women in science, technology, engineering and math who defied the odds to become leaders in their disciplines was published by the American Association for Physician Leadership in 2023. It won the Gold Medal from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association President's Award.
