Lois Kennis is a tenacious writer and avid reader with 16 years of experience in writing feature stories about small Iowa businesses and a decade with University of Minnesota Extension Sustainable Partnerships. There, she worked closely with a team of directors to spotlight outreach programs and special events using her writing, editing, and marketing skills. She also spent many years in advertising sales.
Kennis won the American Christian Fiction Writers Virginia 2020 Crown Award, as well as the 2020 Cascade Writing Contest (Oregon Christian Writers) for Unpublished Contemporary Fiction Book. She was a semifinalist in the Hidden River Arts Eludia Award 2020. In 2019, she was a semifinalist in the national ACFW Genesis Contest, a finalist in Serious Writer's Writer of the Year, and won second place in contemporary fiction in the Write to Publish Conference. In 2018, she won second place for contemporary novel in the North Carolina Christian Writers Conference, and in 2017 she was a semifinalist in the Tucson Festival of Books.
A member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association, American Christian Fiction Writers, and numerous local writers’ groups, Kennis lives in Ames, Iowa, where she is close to all six grandchildren.
She is seeking an agent and publication of her first novel, "Rise on Eagle's Wings."
