About
Danielle Y. C. McClean is a children's author, translator, and interpreter. Her debut middle-grade novel, Secrets of Oscuros: The Protectors' Pledge (CaribbeanReads Publishing, 2017), illustrated by Lorena Soriano, was one of three 2016 CODE Burt Award for Caribbean Young Adult Literature winning titles, and its sequel, Secrets of Oscuros: The Whisperer's Warning (CaribbeanReads, 2022), illustrated by Rachel Moss, won the 2022 Bocas Lit Fest Children's Book Prize. She has degrees in French, Spanish, and law, and was a Spanish teacher for eight years.
Originally from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. McClean currently lives in Tennessee with her husband and two children.
