About
I am a writer, translator, and teacher. My book-length translation, Chinese Medicine Periodicals from the Late Qing and Republican China was recently published by Brill. My poetry appeared in the little magazine Tokens and one of my essays was published in The Columbia Review. In addition, I have several academic publications related to my specialty in Chinese history. I received my PhD in East Asian History from Columbia University in 2015 and have spent more than ten years living, studying, and traveling in China. Translating Duan Yishan's overview of the Chinese medical periodicals of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this book provides the only description in English of the development of medical journals in China and the critical role they played in the formation of modern Chinese medicine.
