About
I live and work from a cattle ranch in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I come from a long line of storytellers; that's how my family passed the time before TV! In a world where storytelling doesn't seem to pass from person to person anymore, I'm most interested in those stories that might otherwise be lost. Living in the same valley as my great-grandparents, I've collected many of them and retold them in many forms. My first book, "Legend of Sleeping Giant", a children's story, is about a local mountain and how it perhaps came to be according to my grandmother. I have multiple books in various genres in production. My second book was a collaboration with other writers called "Pioneer Horse Breeders," about the early Quarter Horse.

The Legend of Sleeping Giant
A legend as told by a very young Evelyn Peavy Semotan (my grandmother) in the early 1900s about how a mountain resembling a giant asleep on his back came to exist. A young Ute boy asks his grandfather to tell the story and learns how a giant existed peacefully side by side with the Ute until one fateful day. A coming of age story, the vibrant water color illustrations by my friend Sue Schneller really bring the magic to life.
