About
Mary Choy, PharmD, BCGP, FASHP, is author of the award-winning book, Healthcare Heroes: The Medical Careers Guide. She is board certified in geriatric pharmacotherapy and is on the medical review board for Verywell Health. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from St. John's University in 2005. She completed her pharmacy practice residency with an emphasis in education at the Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Healthcare System and an affiliated teaching position at Long Island University. She is an active member and leader in professional pharmacy associations at both the state and national levels. Dr. Choy currently serves as the Director of Pharmacy Practice of the New York State Council of Health-System Pharmacists.
She has held multiple roles in the field of pharmacy, including academia, hospital, community, and industry. While she was a professor and clinical pharmacist, she became an active fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and was recognized for excellence in pharmacy practice. She has advanced pharmacy practice in acute and ambulatory care settings that include the areas of nephrology, transplant, geriatrics, and internal medicine. Mary has authored scientific articles and has presented her research at national meetings. In addition, her award-winning book, Healthcare Heroes: The Medical Careers Guide, provides insights for the general public to demystify the diverse group of professionals who comprise the modern healthcare team.
She is the recipient of numerous accolades, including the ASHP-ABHP Leadership Award, American Pharmacists Association Immunization Champion Award and a New York State Assembly Citation for exemplary service in improving healthcare. Mary has appeared on the NBC Today Show, SinoVision, PBS, ASHP TV, and ‘Pharmacists: Unsung Heroes’ documentary. She was featured in newspapers, World Journal, SingTao, and Epoch Times, for her contribution to public health. She lives in New York City with her spouse and two children.
