About
By day, I'm an editor and reporter for the Associated Press in Columbus. By earlier in the day I'm the author of the Andy Hayes private eye series, featuring a former Ohio State and Cleveland Browns quarterback turned investigator. “Readers who love old-fashioned detective novels will be in hog heaven as they tear into Welsh-Huggins’ latest adventure featuring Andy Hayes,” says Booklist of my new release, "Fatal Judgment." My short mystery fiction has appeared in Kings River Life, Down And Out Magazine, Tough and Mystery Weekly Magazine. I'm also the editor of the upcoming "Columbus Noir" anthology from Akashic (ah-KAH’-shik) Books. My nonfiction book, "No Winners Here Tonight," is the definitive history of Ohio's death penalty. When I'm not writing or reporting, I enjoy running, reading, spending time with family, and trying to remember why having three cats, a dog and two parakeets seemed like a good idea at the time.
