William (Bill) Berlinghoff
Born in New York City, Bill Berlinghoff was educated at Regis High School, The College of the Holy Cross, Boston College, and Wesleyan University, where he received his Ph.D. in mathematics. He began his teaching career at The College of St. Rose in Albany, NY, and then spent 20 years on the faculty of Southern Connecticut State University. Now retired from teaching (but not from writing), he was recently a Visiting Professor at Colby College in Maine. From the beginning of his teaching career up to the present, he has written books focused specifically on making math more accessible to non-science people. He has also been a semi-professional folksinger for more than half a century.
