Hazel Longhurst Spire
Hazel Spire, a retired teacher in SE Kansas, is the author of two middle-grade mysteries: SECRET OF THE SEVENTH GATE (Royal Fireworks 2001), based on her experience working in Iran; and ARROWHEAD’S LOST HOARD (P3 Press 2008), set on a fictional island inspired by the Isle of Wight, England. Hazel's first book-length collection of poetry, CATCHING THE TRADE WINDS, was published by Raemark Press in 2018. She also wrote and illustrated X MEANS TEN ON THE FACE OF BIG BEN (Raemark 2018), an ABC book about her birthplace, London (UK). Hazel and her siblings recently published their father's short stories, titled APPLE PIE ORDER: 42 TALES WITH A TWIST. She enjoys painting, travel, crafts, piano - and of course, reading.

- CATCHING THE TRADE WINDS was a Finalist in the Poetry category of the Next Generation Indie Awards 2019.
- ARROWHEAD'S LOST HOARD was a Finalist in the Children's Fiction category of the North Texas Book Festival 2009.
