About
Ron Belak is fortunate to be able to combine three of his passions--fly fishing, writing and photography. He became interested in fishing at the tender age of 5 and progressed to fly fishing as a young adult. Writing interested him as an undergraduate and graduate student of geology. However, scientific and government writing left a void in his creativity so Ron advanced to magazine writing. Photography adds additional creativity and immensely helps him to market his magazine articles. Ron has also published two books on fly fishing.

Colorado Outdoors, Fly Fisherman and American Angler magazines
Ron has written over 90 magazine articles over the past 30 years, primarily articles on fly fishing for Colorado Outdoors magazine. He also writes occasional articles on Nordic skiing, backpacking, photography, birding and geology. In December 2018, he published the book "Fly Fishing Colorado's Backcountry," which is a compendium of his magazine articles on backcountry fly fishing. In April 2021, he released his second book "The Fishing Guide to 800 High Lakes in Colorado." Both books are available through BookBaby, his printer, or his web site https://www.ronbelak.com.

Awards and Recognition
- Several of Ron's magazine articles and both of his books have won awards from the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers as have several of his wildlife videos and numerous photographs of wildlife, cultural activities, historical events and natural phenomena.
